Hillary Rikli –– Layout and Design Editor
Hillary received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in May 2012 and has worked in a drug research and development lab in Springfield studying venomous animals since her senior year as an undergraduate student. After taking a year break from academia to continue to gain experience, she decided to come back to UIS in the fall of 2013 in pursuit of her Master of Science degree, this time in Biology. She plans to graduate in the spring of 2015 and hopes to pursue a career researching new therapeutics isolated and modified from venom components.
In the past Hillary was a part of the UIS Athletics Department by being a UIS Prairie Star cheerleader all four years as an undergrad. She enjoys cheerleading and to stay involved with the sport she judges Illinois junior high and high school cheerleading competitions for the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association where she is also on the Board of Directors and holds the Newsletter Director position. She authors, designs and publishes the newsletters for the association each season and plans to use her experience to bring her own flavor and flair to the UIS Journal. Each week, as the layout and design editor she will lay out the newspaper’s stories, photos and any and all design elements for the Journal.
